Silvia De Santis, PhD
Bio
I was born in 1984 in Rome, Italy, where I lived and studied until my twenties. Afterwords, I moved to Cardiff, UK, Tel Aviv, Israel, Maastricht, the Netherlands, Frankfurt, Germany and finally to Alicante, Spain, where I am currently based.
Education
I studied Physics at the Sapienza University in Rome (B.Sc. in Physics in 2005, followed by a M. Sc. in Biophysics in 2007). At Sapienza University I also got my PhD in Physics in 2011.
Employment
My first post-doctoral position was in CUBRIC, Cardiff, working with Prof. Jones. I then got a Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Wellcome fellowship, which allowed me to travel across different labs: Tel Aviv University with Prof. Assaf, Maastricht University with Prof. Roebroeck, to land at the Institute of Neuroscience of Alicante with Dr. Canals thanks to a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. There, I have recently moved on to an independent position.
